Reports state that Bluesky (a decentralized social network) is set to release a new feature that would see the platform’s user experience feel a lot like X (Twitter). They are rolling out a new in-app video and music player alongside a new “hide post” feature.
It is said that the new video and music player will work with SoundCloud, Spotify, YouTube, and Twitch embeds. Although the platform is expected to feel like X, it will not autoplay videos like on X. If any user wants to watch or listen to a content, they have to manually trigger it to play.
With their new “hide post” feature, you can literally hide posts you do not want to see again from your feeds by a simple click. The post would be hidden and Bluesky says it will “be put behind a mask if you visit it directly”.
There were some bug fixes that accompanied these new features. A particular bug that was fixed was the one that made blocked and muted account listings show as empty. Then another bug that was fixed was the one where the home screen would appear empty and a crashing that occasionally occurred while users interacted with threads.
This announcement and release came just a few days after Bluesky allowed users to view posts without logging in. Bluesky has launched its app on Appstore and Playstore respectively and just hit 2 million users last month.
