FG Issues Alert as Unrest Breaks Out in South Africa Over “Nigerian Monarch”

Published

on

Nigeria’s Federal Government has cautioned its citizens in South Africa to exercise extreme vigilance after fresh unrest erupted over the controversial crowning of a Nigerian traditional leader.

In a statement from the High Commission, Nigerians were advised to reduce movement, steer clear of crowded areas, and stay alert to security developments. Authorities also urged a pause on cultural gatherings and warned against provocative comments, particularly online.

The advisory follows violent protests marked by arson, destruction of property, and clashes, raising fears of renewed xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals.
