Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has distributed N36 million equally among 1,215 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted in the state, granting each member ₦30,000. This commitment came during his visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri, as stated in a release by Malam Isa Gusau, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy. The release mentioned that Governor Zulum not only offered financial assistance but also organized additional provisions to enhance the participants’ meals during their three-week orientation. These provisions include 100 bags of rice, 10 cows, 10 sacks of 100 kg beans, and 10 gallons of cooking oil.
Governor Zulum communicated his intention to provide palliative measures to support the National Youth Service Corps participants, stating, “Each one of you will receive ₦30,000, which will be credited to you once you provide me with your bank details. Additionally, we have prepared 100 bags of rice, 10 bags of 100kg beans, 10 gallons of cooking oil, and 10 bulls for you.”
He encouraged the corps members to abide by camp rules, foster harmony among themselves, and contribute to national unity. The NYSC orientation in Borno resumed after a 13-year suspension due to security challenges, marking a significant milestone.
During the swearing-in event at the orientation camp, Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to creating a hospitable environment for corps members and assured them of a positive experience in Borno throughout their service year. This gesture exemplifies leadership that prioritizes the well-being and support of young citizens participating in the NYSC program.
