Nigeria may collapse if Tinubu wins second term – Baba-Ahmed

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has warned that Nigeria could face serious instability if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is re-elected for a second term under the current national situation.

Speaking in an interview with journalists, Baba-Ahmed said the country is already going through one of its most difficult periods, citing rising insecurity, widespread poverty, and deepening social divisions.

He argued that the present administration appears disconnected from the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians, especially young people who, according to him, are increasingly losing hope due to unemployment and lack of opportunities.

Baba-Ahmed further noted that growing hardship has intensified mistrust among citizens, with rising tensions across different regions of the country.

He stressed that urgent political change may be needed in 2027 to prevent further decline.

According to him:
“We’ve never been in a war situation more than we are now. We have a government that is too removed from the people… Poverty levels are unprecedented, young people have no hope… The country is more divided now than it has ever been… Another term for the same administration may just put an end to this country.”

Responding to claims that opposition to the President is politically motivated, he dismissed the suggestion, insisting that Nigeria’s problems are rooted in worsening insecurity and the government’s inability to effectively address it.

He added that public anger is driven by real-life hardship, not political conspiracy, urging the government to focus on security and improving welfare conditions.
