NSCDC Raises Security Standards as 80 Private Guards Complete Intensive Training in Gombe

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has successfully trained and certified 80 private security guards drawn from 10 licensed firms, marking a significant step toward strengthening Nigeria’s grassroots security architecture.

The two-week intensive programme, held at the Federal Secretariat in Gombe, focused on equipping participants with critical skills including physical drills, unarmed combat, intelligence gathering, first aid, fire safety, and protection of national assets.

Speaking at the passing-out parade, State Commandant Jibrin Idris described the exercise as more than a ceremonial event, emphasizing its role in deepening professionalism and reinforcing collaboration between the Corps and private security operators.

“This is a clear statement of our commitment to raising standards within the private security sector,” he said, urging the newly trained guards to uphold discipline, integrity, and dedication in their duties.

The trainees were drawn from reputable firms including A. Koli Security Limited, Hardware Security Services, and Kings Guard Security Limited, among others operating within the state.

NSCDC reiterated its statutory mandate under the NSCDC Act of 2003 to regulate, license, and supervise private guard companies nationwide, warning against illegal security operations and promising sustained enforcement and monitoring.

The development underscores the Corps’ broader strategy to professionalise private security services and enhance the protection of lives, property, and critical infrastructure across Nigeria.
