The Enugu State National Caucus of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide and the Enugu State Chapter Executive Committee have reaffirmed their support for the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta Mbata, while passing a vote of confidence on the National Youth Leader, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a joint meeting held on September 7 in Enugu.
At the meeting, the youth leaders commended the current Ohanaeze leadership for initiatives aimed at promoting Igbo unity, cultural preservation, and youth development.
The group particularly praised Senator Mbata’s administration for programmes designed to preserve Igbo identity, including a scholarship scheme for 200 tertiary institution students, describing the initiative as a demonstration of commitment to the future of young people.
According to the communiqué, the youths believe the preservation of Igbo language, traditions, values, and customs has become increasingly important amid changing societal realities and urged the President-General to sustain programmes that create opportunities and improve the welfare of Ndigbo.
The gathering also expressed “unreserved solidarity” with the National Executive Committee of the Ohanaeze Youth Wing led by Mazi Okpalaezeukwu, saying the committee has provided a platform for young people to participate meaningfully in the affairs of Ndigbo.
The youth leaders subsequently passed what they described as a “strong and unequivocal vote of confidence” in Okpalaezeukwu, citing his accessibility, commitment to youth development, and inclusive leadership style.
They called on youths across the South-East to rally behind the national leadership, embrace dialogue and peaceful engagement, and avoid divisions capable of undermining the collective aspirations of Ndigbo.
The communiqué stressed that differences of opinion should not translate into hostility, insisting that the shared interests of the Igbo people outweigh individual disagreements.
It concluded with a call for sustained unity, peace, and active youth participation in strengthening Igbo communities and preserving their cultural heritage for future generations.
