Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has offered automatic employment to all 37 first class graduates of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).

He equally offered them free post graduate scholarship from Masters to PhD levels in any public university of their choice in Nigeria.

The Governor who is the Visitor to the University, announced this at the 16th Convocation Ceremony of COOU tagged “the Diplomatic Edition” held at the Igbariam campus of the university over the weekend.

Prof Soludo also announced a ₦4 million cash prize to the overall best graduating student, Somtochukwu Augustus Ume of the Economics Department who scored 4.85 out of 5.0 CGPA.

A total of 3,155 students graduated this year, with 808 postgraduate scholars while 2,051 graduated with Second Class Upper Division.

Governor Soludo urged the graduands to go into the world and be good ambassadors of COOU while contributing their quota to societal development and problem-solving.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha urged the Governor to address the issue of land grabbing threatening the university community.

According to her, the university land is being encroached by land grabbers and the community around, mostly on the side of the road where no fence or any mark of ownership exists.

Prof Omenugha further decried inadequate facilities like lecture hall, theatres, accommodation for the growing number of students and the increasing number of programmes.
