Olatunji Rilwan Disu was honoured at a grand state banquet hosted by the Lagos State Government at the Lagos State House in Marina following his appointment as the country’s Inspector-General of Police.
The event, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, drew top government officials, security leaders, and members of the public, all gathered to celebrate Disu’s distinguished career and leadership in policing.
Sanwo-Olu described the IGP as a true representative of Lagos, whose professional journey reflects dedication, discipline, and service, particularly highlighting his impactful tenure with the Rapid Response Squad.
In his remarks, Disu expressed appreciation for the recognition, calling it a symbolic homecoming. He reaffirmed his resolve to enhance professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force, rebuild public trust, and deepen collaboration with communities.
He also stressed the importance of partnerships between law enforcement and stakeholders, including the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, noting that ensuring safety requires collective effort from government, private institutions, and citizens.
The ceremony underscored the enduring ties between Lagos State and the police chief, as well as a shared vision for improved security and national progress.
