Police Nab Three Over Inter-State Gun Running, Kidnapping in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspects linked to an inter-state gun-running and kidnapping syndicate, recovering an AK-47 rifle and other items during the operation.

The arrests were carried out by the command’s Tactical Team based in Ughelli. According to reports, the suspects were apprehended on April 23 and 24 in a coordinated sting operation.

Confirming the development in Warri, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, stated that one of the suspects was first arrested in Ughelli for his role in the criminal network.

He added that the suspect was apprehended alongside 30-year-old Haruna Jibrin, a native of Wase in Plateau State, who was allegedly responsible for facilitating the movement of arms from Ughelli to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Further investigations led to the arrest of another accomplice, 38-year-old Isiyaku Adamu, in Rivers State on April 24.

Police authorities also recovered an AK-47 rifle believed to be intended for transport, along with a blue Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. MUS 138 DJ) allegedly used in the operation.

The police said the arrests highlight ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in arms trafficking and kidnapping across state lines.
