Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) on Tuesday presented Certificates of Return to all Chairmen-elect of the 21 Local Government Areas of the State elected on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) during last Saturday’s Council poll.
The electoral body also presented Certificates of Return to Deputy Chairmen-elect as well as Councillors who won the elections in their respective wards.
Presenting the certificates at the ANSIEC Secretariat in Awka, Chairman of the Commission, Genevieve Osakwe described the election as free, fair and credible.
She thanked the electorate for coming out en-mass to exercise their franchise, as well as security agencies for providing peaceful atmosphere during the exercise.
According to her, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) won two councilorship seats in Ajali and Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area out of the 326 wards in the State.
Speaking to journalists after receiving his certificate, Chairmen-elect, Onitsha South Local, Chukwuemerie Ibekwe said his emergence would signal new dawn in his area.
He vowed to pursue his 8-point agenda as reflected in his manifesto.
Also speaking, Chairmen-elect, Njikoka Local Government Area, Dr. Ikechukwu Okeakpu, appreciated the people of Njikoka for finding him worthy to serve them.
He pledged to work in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the State.
