The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, May 1, 2026, as a public holiday in observance of this year’s International Workers’ Day.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm congratulations to workers nationwide in recognition of their contributions.
He praised Nigerian workers for their commitment, diligence, and vital role in driving national progress, noting that their dedication remains key to the country’s development and prosperity.
The Minister urged workers to uphold values such as patriotism, efficiency, and commitment to duty, emphasizing their importance in achieving long-term national growth.
He further reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, ensuring their safety, and fostering an enabling environment for economic advancement.
As the celebration approaches, Nigerians were encouraged to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and to reflect on the significance of unity and hard work in nation-building.
