Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a 60-year-old man in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The victim was kidnapped on Saturday while returning to his residence at Jinarere, Alakia area of Ibadan.
The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, noting that efforts are underway to rescue the victim.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, a building materials trader, was attacked by four masked armed men along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road.
The assailants reportedly whisked him away in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The police added that tactical teams have been deployed to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe rescue of the victim.
