The Kebbi State Government has dissolved the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA), following recommendations from a visitation panel set up to assess the institution’s operations.
The decision was approved during a State Executive Council meeting, according to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida.
As part of the move, the government also removed the Vice Chancellor, along with the two Deputy Vice Chancellors (Academic and Administration), from office. The Registrar and Bursar were equally relieved of their duties, while the appointment of Abba Mohammed Adua was terminated.
In the interim, Professor Samaila Arzika Mungadi has been appointed as Sole Administrator to oversee the university’s affairs pending the reconstitution of a new Governing Council and the appointment of new principal officers.
The changes take effect from April 30, 2026.
