Breaking: Kidnapped Oyo Pupils, teachers regain freedom after 50 Days in captivity

All women and schoolchildren who were abducted by terrorists in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been rescued.

The rescue followed security operations coordinated by federal authorities, according to information released on Friday.

Officials said all the victims had been recovered safely through ongoing efforts by security agencies, although details of the operation and the circumstances surrounding the rescue were not immediately disclosed.

The development comes after more than 50 days in captivity.

Their release was announced in a post on X on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, spokesman for the presidency.

“Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo, have been freed by their abductors,” Onanuga wrote.
