The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expressed concern over the worsening economic conditions facing Nigerian workers, noting that many are struggling with inflation, rising food prices, high transportation costs, energy challenges, and the overall high cost of living.
The party’s National Chairman, Bala Yunusa Mohammed, in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, extended solidarity and appreciation to Nigerian workers for their resilience and contribution to national development.
According to the NNPP, the party does not only celebrate labour but also recognises the remarkable endurance of Nigerian workers amid harsh economic realities.
It stated, “Despite the daunting economic challenges, rising cost of living, and the daily struggle to make ends meet, your dedication to keeping the country running is nothing short of heroic.”
The party praised workers for maintaining productivity and hope despite difficult conditions, describing it as a reflection of the Nigerian spirit.
However, the NNPP stressed that resilience should not replace prosperity, adding that workers deserve a system that improves their quality of life in return for their labour.
As the country approaches another electoral cycle, the party urged workers across all sectors to recognise their collective influence and use it to demand better governance.
It added that meaningful change would require workers to move beyond survival mode and become more politically organised in order to elect leaders who prioritise policies that reduce the cost of living.
The NNPP reaffirmed its commitment to representing ordinary Nigerians, stating that it envisions a “New Nigeria” where labour is rewarded with improved living standards and national development reflects the country’s potential.
It also encouraged workers to actively participate in the electoral process, including voting for leaders committed to easing economic hardship and improving welfare for Nigerian families.
