The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), through its Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), has achieved a major breakthrough with the arrest of four suspected bandits and the recovery of weapons and ammunition in Kaduna State.

The suspects—Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40)—were apprehended on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area, following actionable intelligence.

Items recovered during the operation include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and a locally made pistol loaded with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Initial findings suggest the suspects are involved in banditry and other violent criminal activities within the region. Authorities have stated that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the group and recover additional weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, praised the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling banditry and safeguarding lives and property nationwide.
