Police, EFCC free 14 abducted passengers

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, working alongside operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has successfully secured the freedom of fourteen individuals kidnapped by sea pirates along the Calabar–Oron waterways.

The rescue followed coordinated intelligence-led operations, strong inter-agency cooperation, and sustained pressure on criminal groups active in the maritime area.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, the joint team acted on reliable intelligence to heighten surveillance and carry out strategic raids in key locations, leading to the safe recovery of all victims without casualties.

The victims are currently receiving medical care and undergoing debriefing procedures before being reunited with their loved ones.

Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, praised the officers for their professionalism, teamwork, and effective execution of the mission, noting that efforts are ongoing to arrest those responsible for the abduction.
