In a decisive move against the spread of illicit weapons, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have dismantled an illegal arms production facility in Gwandanu Village, Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The targeted operation, carried out around 5:00 p.m. on April 22, 2026, led to the arrest of two individuals found actively manufacturing firearms.
During the raid, troops recovered a cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles and one G3 rifle, along with equipment used in fabricating arms such as generating sets, a welding machine, a drilling machine, a hand filler, and a full set of technical tools.
In a separate but related development, troops stationed at Gidan Waya in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State responded to an attack on personnel of the Forest Guards and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
Working jointly with the Forest Guards, the troops pursued the attackers toward the Jaginde Forest area.
On sighting the advancing security forces near Ungwar Maruwa, the suspects abandoned their motorcycle and fled into nearby bushes.
Troops, however, succeeded in apprehending one of the fleeing individuals. A subsequent search of the area uncovered additional items, including an AK-47 rifle, an AK-49 rifle, a motorcycle, and a sleeping mat.
All arrested suspects are currently in custody undergoing further investigation to uncover the scope of their operations and possible connections to wider criminal networks. Troops have since intensified clearance and mop-up operations in the area to track down other fleeing suspects and recover any remaining illegal weapons.
These coordinated actions underscore the commitment of Operation ENDURING PEACE to curbing arms proliferation and restoring stability across its area of responsibility. The operation continues to urge members of the public to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.
