Chelsea legend Petr Čech has advised Chelsea FC to rethink their current transfer strategy if they want to compete seriously for major trophies like the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.
According to Čech, Chelsea’s heavy focus on signing young talents may not be enough to guarantee success at the highest level. He stressed that while young players bring energy and potential, relying on them alone rarely delivers consistent results in elite competitions.
He explained that winning titles requires balance—particularly a strong core of experienced players who can guide younger teammates through pressure moments and difficult phases of a season.
Čech said top competitions demand consistency, maturity, and leadership, qualities that usually come with experience. Without that backbone, even talented squads can struggle to maintain form across a full campaign.
He also pointed out that building a winning team is not just about collecting prospects but about blending youth with seasoned professionals who understand what it takes to win trophies.
Currently, Chelsea’s squad lacks that experience profile, with Tosin Adarabioyo being one of the few older players—and he hasn’t been a regular starter.
In short, Čech’s message is clear: if Chelsea want to return to winning ways, they need to stop thinking only about the future and start building a team that can win now as well.
