Supervise your subordinates to prevent vicarious liability – CP tells senior police officers in Abia

Senior officers in the Abia State Police Command have been directed to tighten supervision of their subordinates in order to prevent misconduct, operational lapses, and actions that could attract vicarious liability.

The directive was issued in Umuahia by the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, during an emergency strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other heads of units across the Command.

He explained that the order aligns with instructions from the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and is aimed at improving discipline and accountability within the force.

As part of the new measures, the Commissioner announced that the Command’s medical team will begin assessing the physical and mental health of officers across all divisions to ensure fitness for duty.

He also emphasized the need for improved visibility policing, better public engagement, and professionalism in service delivery, warning against abuse of power, unlawful arrests, and corruption.

Additionally, officers were advised to regularly study relevant legal texts, including Nigerian laws and constitutional provisions, to enhance their knowledge and performance on the job.

Overall, the directive is part of efforts to restore public trust and strengthen policing standards across Abia State.
