We will avoid political traps – Kwankwasiyya Movement reacts to ADC judgment

Kwankwasiyya Movement Reacts to Supreme Court Ruling on ADC Leadership Crisis

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has reacted to the recent Supreme Court judgment on the leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress, saying it is carefully reviewing the ruling to avoid any political or legal setbacks ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the movement commended the Supreme Court for what it described as courage and clarity in resolving procedural issues surrounding the case.

It said the judgment, which overturned earlier orders that created confusion within the party, represents a victory for due process and reinforces the judiciary’s role as a stabilising force in democracy.

According to the statement, the court’s decision corrected procedural irregularities that led to the suspension of party leadership and restored order by reaffirming that institutions must operate within the law.

While noting that the substantive matter has been returned to the trial court, the group expressed confidence that the ruling has laid a strong foundation for justice in the next phase of proceedings.

“At this critical stage, we are carefully studying the judgment and analysing its implications within the electoral timeline,” the statement said.

It added that the review is necessary to avoid falling into any political or legal trap that could affect participation in the 2027 general elections.

The movement also disclosed that it is exploring all lawful strategic options, including possible alliances with other political platforms such as the National Democratic Congress and the Peoples Redemption Party.

It maintained that its priority is to safeguard democratic participation and ensure that citizens are not excluded from the political process.

“Our objective remains to protect democratic participation and ensure no contrived circumstances silence the voice of the people,” it stated.

The group assured supporters that a final political direction will be communicated soon, while urging members to remain calm, focused, and united as consultations continue.
