SDP North-West elects new zonal officials

The North-West Zonal Congress of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has elected new zonal executives, with Salihu Suleiman from Kaduna emerging as the National Vice Chairman for the region.

The outcome was announced in a statement issued by the electoral committee, led by Adamu Idris and Titus Madaki, following the congress held at the party’s state secretariat in Kaduna on Monday. According to the committee, all candidates who contested for available positions were elected unopposed.

While addressing delegates, Adamu Idris urged the newly elected officials to promote inclusiveness in party administration and ensure that all members are actively involved in decision-making. He also emphasized the need for unity and stronger democratic structures within the party, especially as it prepares for future elections.

Speaking on behalf of the new executives, Suleiman assured members that efforts would be made to strengthen the party and build a more formidable opposition across the North-West zone. He added that the leadership would focus on improving the party’s performance in upcoming elections.

Other officials elected at the congress include Rilwanu Jamo as Zonal Secretary, Hassan Gidan Laka as Zonal Treasurer, Musa Lawan as Zonal Publicity Secretary, and Inuwa Idris as Zonal Financial Secretary.

Additional positions were filled by Bishop Alex Baidi as Organising Secretary, Dr. Aminu Sagagi as Welfare Secretary, Garba Namodori as Auditor, Ummi Kabir as Women Leader, and Murtala Jangebe as Youth Leader.
