A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government will fail the test of integrity and credibility in the 2027 general elections.
Salihu made the assertion while speaking during an interview on Sunday Politics, a programme on Channels Television.
According to him, the APC-led administration under President Bola Tinubu is likely to face strong backlash from Nigerians at the polls due to growing frustration across the country.
“When it comes to credible elections based on integrity, this government will fail the test. It will not withstand the anger and frustrations of the Nigerian people,” he said.
The ADC chieftain also called for the resignation or removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, alleging bias in the discharge of his duties.
He argued that Amupitan has failed to demonstrate the neutrality and competence required to oversee credible elections in a country as large as Nigeria.
“Amupitan should either resign or be removed. In my view, he has failed the integrity and competency tests and has not shown himself to be an impartial umpire capable of delivering elections Nigerians can trust,” Salihu added.
However, INEC has dismissed the allegations, maintaining that its chairman remains neutral and committed to conducting free and fair elections.
