Eberechi Eze has admitted that Arsenal are currently under significant internal pressure as they push for success this season.
The England international said the team places more pressure on itself than what comes from external criticism, adding that they remain focused despite opinions from pundits.
Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday, returning to the top of the Premier League table.
Eze scored the decisive goal at the Emirates Stadium, earning the Gunners all three points and moving them three points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
Manchester City, however, still have a game in hand, as Pep Guardiola’s side were engaged in FA Cup action against Southampton.
Speaking after the match, Eze said the team remains unfazed by outside commentary.
“I don’t hear pundits. The pressure we put on ourselves is so much more than what’s coming from outside,” he said.
He added that such internal pressure is necessary, as it drives the team to perform consistently and compete for the league title.
